September 2024 Nature Calendar
Welcome, September!
As summer fades and our homeschool lessons begin again, I wrote some notes and goals in my journal this week. I’m sharing a few goals/thoughts below:
Note: I’m home-teaching 4 grade levels this year.
- I will continue to aim to finish homeschool lessons by lunch. (younger children)
- Prioritize cooking from scratch. For health reasons and budgeting, I make a lot of our meals. This aligns well with our homeschool lifestyle but takes a lot of physical work. Once a week, I will spend time with the younger children for cooking lessons.
- Use my weekly/monthly home-keeping plan September Home-Keeping Calendar
- Help my older high school boys
- Celebrate the seasons by reading specific books, eating seasonal food, and studying nature.
- Continue my self-education in areas of interest. This is important for me to model to my children.
- Find a place to serve. (A memory care facility or homeless shelter.)
Autumn Homemaking
“I loved autumn, the season of the year that God seemed to have put there just for the beauty of it.” Lee Maynard
September is the month to make Vanilla Extract and Fire Cider! Homemade Vanilla Extract adds rich flavor to everything you bake. We add it to our drinks and oatmeal, too.
Fire Cider is a warming drink used for generations to ward off illness. My recipe is included in Autumn Folk Recipes. If you are enrolled in Rhythms of Home, I already uploaded Autumn Folk Recipes in your dashboard. Enjoy!
