August 2024 Nature Calendar
Welcome, August!
We are in the full swing of enjoying summer-watching wildlife, enjoying seasonal foods, and preparing for our upcoming school year.
This year, I am homeschooling four children (ages 17,15,10,7). Each new year I try to think through what didn’t work well the previous year and how to correct it. My goal for my older children this year is: To take better ownership of their own education. When children are younger, we (parents) cultivate this atmosphere to encourage learning. But as children grow, I want them to learn to apply the word must to their life.
A Few Autumn Homeschool Goals:
- Keep our days as simple as possible.
- Finish lessons with the younger children by lunch.
- Find a place to serve-homeless shelter, nursing home… I want my children to interact with all types of people.
- Spend time with my toddler before lessons begin for the day
- Continue to make time for my own education

Nature Calendar
This month’s calendar has 31 activites/promps to complete along with your children. In the Northern Hemisphere, August is the last full month of summer, so many insects/plants are fully grown.
I’ve also included a simple recipe for Oregano tea 🙂
Enjoy your August!
